Umpires Needed for Youth Baseball
Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball is looking for umpires (male or female) for the 2009 Baseball and Softball Season. No past experience is needed. Training classes will be provided at the Palatine Park District starting on February 23. Minimum age is 14. If you are under 16 you will need a work permit. All umpires will be employees of the Palatine Park District. Visit www.pyb.com, click on the umpires tab and complete the Preliminary Questionnaire or pick up a form at the Community Center, 250 E. Wood Street. The Community Center is open Monday-Thursday, 8:30 am-7:00 pm, Friday, 8:30 am-4:30 pm, and Saturday, 8:30 am-2:00 pm. Applications must be submitted by Monday, February 16. Preschool Openings
The Palatine Park District is now accepting registration for preschool for the fall of 2008. The Park District schools are located at four sites throughout Palatine. All programs are licensed by the State of Illinois. Half-day programs, mornings or afternoons are available for three and four-year-olds. A pre-kindergarten class is offered Monday - Thursday afternoons for children turning five before 3/1/09. A young three-year-old class is offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for children turning three between 1/1/08 and 11/1/08. Military Discounts
The Palatine Park District's Board of Park Commissioners has recently adopted a new policy of awarding discounts for Park District residents who are active U.S. military personnel and their immediate families.
This policy will allow resident active military personnel, their spouses and their children to participate in two programs per registrant per season at a 50% discount. Additionally, they will be admitted to the Park District's swimming pools and recreation centers for 50% off daily admissions and golf at Palatine Hills Golf Course for the guest fee.
To obtain this discount, please bring proof of active U.S. military status to the Community Center at 250 E. Wood Street, Palatine, IL. U.S. military families will be issued park district identification cards which will enable them to receive services at the reduced rate.
