June 5, 2019 / Palatine Park District / News Update

Palatine Park District will begin celebrating its 32nd season of free summer concerts in Palatine tonight with the first of 19 performances. Tonight’s performance will be one of three concerts featuring Palatine Concert Band. Returning community favorites include The Barefoot Hawaiians on June 7, 7th Heaven on July 19, and American English on August 9. The Little Mermen on June 14, Petra’s Recession Seven on July 10, and Cielito Lindo on July 26 are among several new bands to be featured in the summer series. The complete summer package includes Main Stage concerts at Fred P. Hall Amphitheater on select Wednesdays and Fridays, Towne Square Spotlights on select Thursdays, and Friday Family Picnic Concerts at Towne Square on select Fridays. For a complete list of summer concerts, visit concerts.palatineparks.org.

Six talented musical acts will take the stage at Fred P. Hall Amphitheater or Towne Square in June:

June 5 & 26 • 8:00pm – Palatine Concert Band
Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road, Palatine
Under the direction of Dr. Frederick Lowe, Palatine Concert Band is an adult volunteer organization that performs fine wind band literature, serving the Chicagoland area as a musical organization of high quality. With the purpose of improving the musical abilities of its members and the musical appreciation of its audiences, Palatine Concert Band is a vibrant ensemble of approximately 80 musicians.

June 7 • 12:00pm – The Barefoot Hawaiians
Towne Square, 150 W. Palatine Road, Palatine
For over 30 years this professional authentic Polynesian-style performing troupe has thrilled audiences of all ages with their dynamic dances, dramatic drumming, beautiful vibrant costumes and props, and displays of island customs.

June 13 • 6:30pm – The Tenors 3
Towne Square, 150 W. Palatine Road, Palatine
Selected to return for an encore performance by 2018 Encore Circle Members, The Tenors 3 are a professional trio of classically trained tenor vocalists performing a diverse musical landscape with a touch of comedy. Their repertoire encompasses Opera, Broadway, Operetta, Standards, Ethnic Favorites, Holiday Melodies, and much more, leaving you with a song in your heart and a smile on your face.

June 14 • 8:00pm – The Little Mermen
Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road, Palatine
Hailing from New York City, The Little Mermen, a Disney cover band, brings nostalgia and singalongs to the generation that grew up on Disney, and never let it go! Playing songs from The Jungle Book to The Lion King, and even Frozen, this band provides a good time for the whole family.

June 20 • 6:30pm – The Ken Spurr Youth Jazz Ensemble
Towne Square, 150 W. Palatine Road, Palatine
College and high school students in this large Jazz Ensemble learn to improvise while performing great Jazz repertory. The group, made up of piano, bass, guitar, drums, and horns, enjoys performing songs by Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, and Horace Silver as well as Latin Jazz.

This concert series has been made possible through the generous support of many local sponsors, including Main Stage Presenting Sponsor Zeigler Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram of Schaumburg and Friday Family Picnic Presenting Sponsor State Farm – Eric Esch.

During select Sounds of Summer Main Stage concerts, the Poolside Café will be open until 9:00pm. Restroom facilities are available in Community Park, however, there are no restroom facilities at Towne Square.
