Allegro Community Chorus Joyfully Takes the Cutting Hall Stage on Friday

April 24, 2019 / Palatine Park District / News Update

We’ll explore some of life’s ups and downs, with songs from the Beatles, contrasting spirituals, hits by Josh Groban, Rascal Flatts, Fats Waller, folk music, and much more. We guarantee to put you in a drivin’, swingin’, groovy mood!

Kevin Kelly, Allegro Community Chorus Artistic Director

The temperatures are rising, spring is in the air, and Allegro Community Chorus presents High Hopes: Music For A Joyful Life on Friday, April 26 at 7:30pm at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood Street, Palatine. Ticket prices are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. To purchase tickets, visit cuttinghall.org or call 847.202.5222. Additional ticketing fees may apply for online purchases.

Palatine Park District’s Allegro Community Chorus, under the artistic direction of Kevin Kelly, is a fast-growing chorus of talented community members who blend their voices to bring arrangements of the season to life. Allegro performs a wide variety of music from folk to Broadway and everything in between.

According to Ashley Schiavone, Cultural Arts Coordinator at Palatine Park District, “Kevin Kelly’s program will lift you up for spring.”

“There’s a line from the song For Now, from the musical Avenue Q that goes, ‘Don’t stress, relax, let life roll off your backs.’ That’s the theme for this concert,” Kelly shared. “We’ll explore some of life’s ups and downs, with songs from the Beatles, contrasting spirituals, hits by Josh Groban, Rascal Flatts, Fats Waller, folk music, and much more. We guarantee to put you in a drivin’, swingin’, groovy mood!”

Do you love to sing? All are welcome to join the upcoming summer Allegro Community Chorus session. The choir meets on Wednesdays, from May 29-July 31 from 7:00pm-8:30pm at Palatine Park District Community Center, 250 E. Wood St. The Resident fee is $85 and the Non-Resident fee is $106. Experienced singers and those with limited choral experience are welcome. No audition is required. “Kevin is always sure to give specific, positive feedback to the members of the choir,” said a veteran chorus member. “He does a great job of working with all levels of musical ability and makes everyone feel comfortable throughout rehearsal.”

The summer choir will perform an outdoor concert as part of the Sounds of Summer Concert Series on Wednesday, August 7 at 8:00pm at Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road. There is no fee for this concert and tickets are not required.

Allegro Community Chorus was founded in 2003 as a program of Palatine Park District. Since its inception, the chorus has grown to include over 40 singers and welcomes adults of all ages who love to sing, regardless of experience. Under the Artistic Direction of Kevin Kelly since September 2015, the chorus aims to build in size and quality of sound, while retaining its joyful spirit.
