On Thursday, June 8, Palatine Park District hosted a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the new Chickadee Park, located at 18 E. Preserve Drive in Palatine. Several surrounding neighbors came out to take part in the celebration.
Thank you to all of the community members, families, and park district staff who came out to celebrate the opening of this new playground. “It’s not every year that we open up a park,” said Park Board Commissioner Jay Cozza at the start of the ceremony. “Congratulations to all the residents that persisted in getting this park open.”
Staff members were on site to answer questions and providing materials for several free upcoming summer events. Attendees were also invited to participate in a free raffle for a variety of fun prizes.
“If you do notice any issues please call the Park District,” Superintendent of Parks and Planning Ed Tynczuk asked of residents. “We’re out here on a regular basis, but we’re not here all the time. If there’s anything broken, just give us a call and we’ll take care of it.”
