Palatine Park District provides the community with three outdoor aquatics facilities, including Birchwood Pool, Eagle Pool, and Family Aquatic Center. Due to the circumstances surrounding the 2020 outdoor pool season, Family Aquatic Center remained closed for the 2020 season. Due to guidelines provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health for Phase 3, recreational swim was not allowed at any Park District aquatic facilities. However, limited aquatic programming was available at Birchwood and Eagle Pools.

Information on our 2021 outdoor aquatics facilities will be available in the spring of 2021.

Aquatic Facility Amenities

Eagle Pool is a 3,000 square foot outdoor facility that includes:

  • 3-meter diving board
  • 1-meter diving board
  • Mid-size slide
  • Zero depth tot pool with alligator slide and bubblers
  • Vending machine

Outdoor Pool Regulations

Thank you for your interest in Palatine Park District outdoor aquatic facilities. Below is a complete list of pool regulations that apply to all three outdoor facilities:

  • Towels, beach robes, and books are allowed on the deck, but must be at least six (6) feet from the water.
  • Each adult may be responsible for no more than four (4) youth under the age of seven (7).
  • Smoking and other tobacco uses are strictly prohibited.
  • The pool water is not suitable for drinking. Avoid swallowing pool water.
  • Littering is prohibited.
  • No food, drink, gum, or tobacco products are allowed outside of designated and controlled areas of the pool deck.
  • Glass containers are prohibited.
  • All persons are encouraged to take a shower before entering the pool deck.
  • Personal conduct within the aquatic facility must be such that the safety of self and others is not jeopardized. Running and boisterous/rough play is not permitted.
  • Only clean footwear, baby strollers, or wheelchairs are allowed in the bathhouse and on the pool deck.
  • Spitting, spouting of water, blowing nose, or any other means of introducing contaminants into the pool is not permitted.
  • Soap or any other substance that might create hazardous conditions or interfere with efficient operation of the swimming pool shall not be permitted in the pool or on the pool deck.
  • Children age seven (7) and older must enter thru gender appropriate locker rooms. Staff is available to escort if necessary.
  • All apparel worn in the pool shall be clean.
  • All children who are not toilet-trained shall wear tight fitting rubber or plastic pants.
  • Diving in water less than five (5) feet deep is not permitted except for competitive swimming events and supervised training.
  • Caution shall be exercised in the use of diving areas.
  • Swimming is prohibited in outdoor swimming pools when lightning is present, including a 30-minute period after the last lightning is detected.
  • Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing safety rules and responding to emergencies.
  • Parents or guardians should supervise their children at all times.
  • Strollers are permitted in designated areas only.
  • No individual should swim alone.
  • Only US Coast Guard approved flotation devices are allowed in the pool. Water wings are not permitted. Pool floats are only allowed on designated float days and times.
  • The pool management has the authority to implement and enforce rules that are more stringent or that supplement those listed here.

2020 Pool Pass & Daily Fees

After evaluating all options regarding the outdoor summer pool season, we are sad to announce that the Family Aquatic Center will remain closed for the 2020 season. Due to new guidelines, provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health for Phase 3, recreational swim will not be allowed at any of our aquatic facilities. However, limited aquatic programming will be available at Birchwood and Eagle Pools.

Lap Pass & Daily Fee

Lap Swim is for ages 16 years and older. One swimmer per lane. Must swim down the center of the lane. No swim equipment available for public use.

Seniors • $77 (Resident), $97 (Non-Resident)
Individual • $120 (Resident), $150 (Non-Resident)
Daily Fee • $5 (Resident), $7 (Non-Resident)

Registration

All participants must pre-register for a time slot of 55 minutes online through the Palatine Park District online registration system. Limited to one slot per Lap Swim times. To register, visit the Birchwood Pool or Eagle Pool pages of this website to register for an available time slot.

Pool Closing Information

Outdoor polls will close in the event of the following conditions:

  • There is a threat of violent weather or lightning is detected/sighted (pools close for a waiting period of 30 minutes).
  • It is 65° or less (decision is made 30 minutes prior to scheduled opening).
  • There is a mechanical breakdown at the pool
  • The chemistry for the water is not at acceptable health standards.
  • There is low attendance.

Swim Lessons will only be canceled if there is a weather emergency or a mechanical breakdown. A decision will be made 30 minutes before the class is scheduled to begin.
