
What the world needs now is love, sweet love, so why not celebrate what you love and appreciate with the Palatine Park District’s 2021 Virtual We Love A Parade! This virtual parade will feature mini “floats” made by residents and businesses using recycled shoeboxes and other small boxes. The virtual parade will be held on Saturday, February 13 at 10:00am. “Love” is the theme for the 2021 Virtual We Love A Parade event.
To Participate: Decorate a “mini” float with a shoe box, tissue box, empty milk carton or whatever you can think of as long as it is no larger than a shoebox,

Friday, January 22 at 12:00pm, and drop off your float at the
Community Center, 250 E. Wood Street.

Rules & Regulations
- All parade entries must be registered and received by January 22, 2021 to enter.
- Be sure to attach to the bottom of your float a card with float name, your name, contact information, and anything special to mention about your float.
- Limited to one entry per group/participant.
- All floats must be decorated and homemade.
- A float made out of a shoebox is not required. Participants may make floats out of tissue boxes, and other items of a similar size.
- The float needs to be able to be “pulled” by a string for the actual parade. It does not have to include wheels or need to roll.
- Please do not use motorized toys or attachments on your float.
- Entries should not be larger than 9” x13” or weigh more than 3 lbs.
- Decorations on the box should not exceed 15’ tall.
- Entries and themes must be appropriate for a family audience. Entry should not focus on religious, political, ideological, or controversial themes or issues. Use of any political or social material is not permitted.
- The Palatine Park District reserves the right to exclude any submissions that do not meet our guidelines or that feature content not aligned with our mission.
- Judging criteria is based on the theme, creativity, and construction of your float.
- Category winners will receive a commemorative certificate and prizes. Winners will be announced during the parade and will receive prize notification via email.
- Parade category winners, other than the People’s Choice, will be chosen from eligible entries and decided at the sole discretion of the Palatine Park District staff.
- All floats will be posted on our Facebook page beginning February 13, 2021. The photo with the most “likes” by 12:00PM on Friday, February 19 will be declared the People’s Choice winner and receive a surprise package!
- All physical awards must be picked up from the Community Center office by Friday, February 26, 2021.
- Floats must be picked up from the Community Center location by 5pm, February 19, 2021. Any floats not picked up by this date will be discarded.
Award Categories
- Best Representation of Parade Theme: The Float that follows the chosen theme of Love & Appreciation the closest.
- Best Family: The float created by a family in the community.
- Best Business: The float created by a business.
- Best Group: The float that is created by and represents a group of people with a common interest (school, scout, dance, etc).
- People’s Choice: Given to the float/entry that elicits the most crowd response.
