Community Park Ice Rink Condition Requirements
The following conditions must be met before the Community Park Ice Rinks can open:
- Before rink water can be sprayed, 4 to 6 inches of ground frost is needed. If this depth of frost is not present, the water sprayed out onto the rink liner will not be able to freeze.
- To obtain 4 to 6 inches of frost, temperatures below 15-18° are needed continuously for 6 to 7 days. Colder temperatures may reduce the number of days required.
- Long-range forecast (10 days) must indicate high temperatures staying below 25-28° before ice can be made. Water must then sit for 4-6 days in these ideal conditions before use can be allowed.
