Palatine Park District presents the annual Canine Carnival on Thursday, July 25 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road, in Palatine. This special event is a carnival designed just for dogs and their owners and is made possible by presenting sponsor, A Closer Bond Dog Community Center.
This year’s event will feature free goody bags, games, complimentary raffles, souvenir photos of pets and their owners, and much more. In addition to these Palatine Park District sponsored activities, a variety of vendors will be on-site to share canine information and their love of dogs. This year’s gold level event sponsors include ABC Plumbing, Sewer, Heating, Cooling & Electric, Arlington International Race Course, Buffalo Grove Animal Hospital, Consumers Credit Union, Daily Herald Media Group, Doggie Playhouse, Eric Esch State Farm, Grade Power Learning, Illinois Spinal Care, and Pete & Mac’s Pet Resort. Silver Sponsors include Berkshire Hathaway Home Services–Sue Gould, Chiro One Wellness Centers, Kriser’s Natural Pet, and New York Life Insurance.
Each dog in attendance will receive a goody bag, a free raffle ticket, and a souvenir photo with their owner. Prizes for the free raffle have been donated by event sponsors.
Attendees who bring a donation for the District’s Pet Food Drive will receive an additional free raffle ticket. Items being collected include dry and canned cat food, dry and canned dog food, and dog and cat treats. This pet food drive will benefit Barb’s Precious Rescue and Adoption and Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation and is presented by Palatine Park District’s Staff Service Committee. Donations are also being accepted through July 25 at Community Center, Birchwood Recreation Center, and Falcon Park Recreation Center.
Each registered dog can be accompanied by up to two people. All dogs are required to be leashed and accompanied by a handler age 16 or over, and all dogs must be wearing a current rabies tag to participate. Dogs without current rabies tag will not be allowed to enter. Registration is $10 per dog with up to two people and can be completed in advance through July 24 at 7:00pm. Palatine residents must wear the Village of Palatine issued license tag to participate in the event. Non-residents MUST bring current identification along with required paperwork to register. This is a Village of Palatine Ordinance and is therefore a requirement to participate in this event. Additional people, or those without dogs, will need to register for $1 each.
Pre-registration is preferred and is available online at palatineparks.org. Registration can be completed in person at Birchwood Recreation Center, Community Center, or Falcon Park Recreation Center, and registration will be accepted at the event as well.
