General
Day zero (0) is your first day of symptoms or a positive viral test. Day one (1) is the first full day after your symptoms developed or your test specimen was collected. If you have COVID-19 or have symptoms, isolate for at least five (5) days.
If you test positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms, regardless of vaccination status, contact the program coordinator for the class you are enrolled in. If you are not sure which program coordinator to contact, please call 847.991.0333 and a Customer Service Representative will connect you with the appropriate staff member.
After the five (5) days of isolation with symptoms, you may end isolation if you are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and your symptoms are improving. If you have tested positive without symptoms, you may end isolation after at least five (5) full days after your positive test. Take precautions until day ten (10) by wearing a well-fitted face covering any time you are around others.
In order to return to class, a written clearance letter will be required from a doctor.
Please Note: Each case and exposure is handled on a case-by-case basis. Should you contract COVID-19 in a park district program, you will receive specific direction via email from the park district.
Program participants who are identified as close contacts will be sent home and, depending on vaccination status, will be required to quarantine, get tested, and wear a mask based on the following CDC guidance:

- Get tested at least five (5) days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19 (even if you don’t develop symptoms).

Program individuals who are identified as close contacts will be sent home (or notified by the Risk Manager) and, depending on vaccination status, will be required to quarantine, get tested, and wear a mask based on the following CDC guidance:

Vaccination (Mitigation Order 2021-11)
The only acceptable forms of proof of vaccination are:
- a CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Card.
- an official immunization record from the jurisdiction where each vaccination shot was administered.
- an “app” that provides a digital record of vaccination.
- a digital or physical photo that includes the individual’s name, the vaccine brand administered, and the date(s) of vaccine administration.
An individual is considered fully-vaccinated two weeks after the second dose in a two-dose series with an approved COVID-19 vaccine or two weeks after a single-dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine. An approved COVID-19 vaccine must be authorized or approved by either the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or the World Health Organization to prevent COVID-19, whether for emergency use or otherwise.
Masks must be “complete and tight knit fabric or cloth” or a “medical mask that is fitted to snuggly cover the nasal openings and mouth.” This means face shields, plastic face masks, helmet covers, and plastic style “clear” masks that do not cover the chin, nose, and mouth are not acceptable surrogates, however, may be used as supplemental mitigation steps for individuals who are under the ages of 2 or are medically unable to tolerate a mask.
Cook County Department of Public Health will be looking at COVID-related metrics weekly within the county’s jurisdiction, including positivity rates and hospitalizations, to determine when the Order can be lifted.
A letter or other documentation signed by an individual’s medical provider can be used to provide information on a medical exemption.
There are no religious exemptions in Cook County Department of Public Health’s Mitigation Order 2021-11.
Renters of Park District facilities can provide evidence that they have checked the vaccine status of all their guests. Renters will need to provide a guest list that documents that vaccination status has been verified.
Individuals 18 years of age and younger participating in youth sports are exempt from the proof of vaccination requirement.
Spectators of indoor sporting events are exempt from the vaccination requirements provided that no food or drink is being served and that they remain masked at all times.
