The Palatine Park District Service Committee collected “Coins for Kids” earlier this month to purchase toys and clothing for children in need. Park District staff, as well as the generous Community Center night cleaning crew, contributed $198.88 the week after Thanksgiving. With this money, five children attending the Kiwanis/Jaycee Christmas party on December 13 were provided toys and clothing, as well as three children in need from District 15.
Thankfully, the collection did not end there as pre-school and kindergarten CARE kids contributed an additional $389.46 in change. This money was then used to purchase toys and clothing for thirteen children from the Palatine Opportunity Center who would have otherwise not received gifts.
Utilizing every penny, staff used the remaining dollars to purchase forty-six pairs of socks that were donated to the District 15 Community Closet located at Sanborn Elementary School.
All wrapping paper, bags, boxes, and supplies were donated by Palatine Park District staff.
