Moms and dads, daughters and sons, all saw red at Palatine Park District’s annual Date Night! The special event was held Thursday, February 13 at the District’s Birchwood Recreation Center, 435 W. Illinois Avenue.
According to Palatine Park District’s Special Interest Coordinator Lisa Schroeder, over 160 participants attended the event, which was sold out. Participants were encouraged to wear red for a Valentine’s theme.
Attendees were served a dinner including salad, pasta, bread and pizza, from local restaurant, Pizza Bella. They also enjoyed an ice cream sundae bar. Heart shaped balloons, provided by sponsor Air Expressions, filled the room. “The balloons really added to the Valentine’s theme atmosphere,” Schroeder commented.
After dinner, participants danced the night away to music provided by DJL Entertainment. Everyone left with a souvenir photo, taken by iStar Photo Booth, along with a goodie bag and a balloon for each child.
“This event provides parents an excellent opportunity to spend quality time with their kids,” said Assistant Superintendent of Recreation Colleen Palmer. “Families are so busy that a night to spend together, with all the amenities offered at Date Night, provides for a unique family tradition,” she added.
