Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band
Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road, Palatine
You can call the Beach Bum Band a “Parrothead band,” because the beach, warm weather, and the island themes parallel much of the ambiance that Parrotheads enjoy. But the Beach Bum Band is not a Jimmy Buffett cover band. The band certainly plays plenty of Buffett favorites, but you’re just as likely to hear music from Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Paul Simon, Dick Dale, Jerry Jeff Walker, and many others. Their music is for everyone who enjoys warm weather.

Kick-off your Palatine outdoor summer concert experience in Towne Square with Rock, Paper, Scissors! Ukulele infused rootsy folk rock is one way of describing the vibration Kevin Presbrey is casting out there these days, but you could also very well say that his songs have a way of giving you that cozy feeling of being snuggled up by the fireplace in your favorite hooded sweatshirt. Embracing the influences of storytellers Jim Croce, Don McLean, and Van Morrison along with modern troubadours Ryan Adams and James Bay, Presbrey’s midwestern sound and personality is the vehicle for the stories he lives and shares.
