Sounds of Summer Concert Series Continues in Palatine This July

July 5, 2018 / Palatine Park District / News Update

July is bringing the heat and the excitement with some great performers and cool music. The complete summer package includes Main Stage Concerts at the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater on Wednesdays and Fridays, Towne Square Spotlights on Thursdays, and Friday Family Picnic Concerts at Towne Square on Friday afternoons. For a complete list of summer events, visit our Sounds of Summer Concert Series page or look for our Sounds of Summer program guide at Birchwood Recreation Center, Community Center, or Falcon Park Recreation Center. Concert programs will also be available at each concert throughout the summer. The Sounds of Summer Concert Series lineup features many talented groups, including these highlighted performers!

July 6 • 8:00pm
Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band
Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road, Palatine

You can call the Beach Bum Band a “Parrothead band,” because the beach, warm weather, and the island themes parallel much of the ambiance that Parrotheads enjoy. But the Beach Bum Band is not a Jimmy Buffett cover band. The band certainly plays plenty of Buffett favorites, but you’re just as likely to hear music from Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Paul Simon, Dick Dale, Jerry Jeff Walker, and many others. Their music is for everyone who enjoys warm weather.

July 11 • 8:00pm
José Valdes & the Mambo All Stars
Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road, Palatine

José Valdes & the Mambo All-Stars perform exciting high energy music from Latin America including, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cha- Cha, and of course Mambo and Latin Jazz. They will move you to dance and enjoy their great tropical sound.

July 12 • 6:30pm & 7:30pm
Rock, Paper, Scissors & Kevin Presbrey (Double Header Event)
Towne Square, 150 W. Palatine Road, Palatine

Ken, Mike and Terry make up this trio that produces a full band sound featuring classics from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.  Kick-off your Palatine outdoor summer concert experience in Towne Square with Rock, Paper, Scissors! Ukulele infused rootsy folk rock is one way of describing the vibration Kevin Presbrey is casting out there these days, but you could also very well say that his songs have a way of giving you that cozy feeling of being snuggled up by the fireplace in your favorite hooded sweatshirt. Embracing the influences of storytellers Jim Croce, Don McLean, and Van Morrison along with modern troubadours Ryan Adams and James Bay, Presbrey’s midwestern sound and personality is the vehicle for the stories he lives and shares.

July 13 • 12:00pm
Barefoot Hawaiians
Towne Square, 150 W. Palatine Road, Palatine

For over 30 years this professional authentic Polynesian-style performing troupe has thrilled audiences of all ages with their dynamic dances, dramatic drumming, beautiful vibrant costumes and props, and informative displays of customs of the islands.

July 14 • 8:00pm (Rescheduled)
1976
Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road, Palatine

These six outstanding musicians authentically recreate all your favorites from Fleetwood Mac, Peter Frampton, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Heart, Boston, Steve Miller, Bad Company, Pat Benatar, The Cars, Elton John, and so many other rock bands from the 70’s. Featuring male & female vocals, two outstanding guitarists and a blistering rhythm section, 1976 will take you back to the decade that changed rock music forever.

July 18 • 6:30pm
Palatine Children’s Chorus
Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood Street, Palatine

Palatine Children’s Chorus Summer Concert Choir, under the artistic direction of Stevee Bellas, and the Singin’ in the Sun camp singers will present their annual summer concert. Please note that this concert will take place inside at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood Street, Palatine.

July 20 • 8:00pm
7th Heaven
Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road, Palatine

Get ready for an experience you must see and hear! 7th Heaven has charted #1 on the Midwest Billboard Charts three times in the past three years. The band has been heard on over 7 radio stations in Chicagoland with their hits “Stoplight,” “Better This Way,” and “Sing.” They are also known for the famous “30 Songs in 30 Minutes” medley featuring tunes from the 70’s and 80’s.

July 27 • 8:00pm
Band Called Catch
Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 256 E. Palatine Road, Palatine

Band Called Catch returns to Palatine with a new record featuring all original music. Their dynamic sound has landed them bills with folks like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Crash Kings, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Drive-By Truckers, Cory Chisel and the Wandering Songs, Dawes, Joe Pug, and hundreds of other truly talented knowns and unknowns.

This concert series has been made possible through the generous support of many local sponsors, including: presenting sponsor, Zeigler Automotive Schaumburg, as well as our advertisers, Arlington International Race Course, Berkshire Hathaway Starck Real Estate – Sue Gould, Daily Herald Media Group, HomeSmart Connect Real Estate, Just Peachy Photography, Kohring Electric, Nakfoor Orthodontics, Palatine Bank & Trust, Palatine Public Library District, Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council, and Pizza Bella.
