Ron Gbur, former Executive Director of Palatine Park District, was new to the recreation department when he pitched the Thanksgiving Day event 40 years ago. The goal was to create a family-orientated fitness tradition, that inspired the community to get outside, break a sweat, and spend time with their loved ones.

As hard as it is to believe, the holiday season is right around the corner – which means the District’s annual Turkey Trot Race, which normally brings nearly 2,000 people together on Thanksgiving Morning, is quickly approaching.

The 39th annual Palatine Park District Turkey Trot will take place on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 28 at Health and Recreation Center on the Harper College campus. Pre-registration will be accepted through Thursday, November 21 at 7:00pm.

All Turkey Trot participants who are pre-registered by November 15 at 7:00pm will receive a complimentary long-sleeve hooded pull-over. The 38th annual event will take place on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 22 at Harper College, 1100 W. Algonquin Road, in Palatine.

All Turkey Trot participants who are pre-registered by November 16 at 7:00pm will receive a complimentary long sleeve dri-fit shirt. Goody bags full of information and products from the event sponsors will be given to the first 2,000 registered runners.
