Dog Park

The fenced-in dog park at Plum Grove Reservoir Park is 2.2 acres in size and can be found on Algonquin Road, south of Harper College. It has separate areas for large and small dogs. The dog park season begins in January and lasts through December for the year. Registration is accepted year-round and registration forms can be downloaded online or obtained from Birchwood Recreation Center, Community Center, and Falcon Park Recreation Center.

Dog Park Registration Info

In-District: Registration for dog park memberships in 2024 begins on December 1, 2023. All registrations require proof of current vaccinations (rabies, DA2PP, Bordetella, internal parasite test). Fees are $49 for the first resident dog, and $10 for each additional dog (up to three dogs per household).

Out-of-District: Registration for dog park memberships in 2024 begins on January 2, 2024. All registrations require proof of current vaccinations (rabies, DA2PP, Bordetella, internal parasite test). Fees are $62 for the first non-resident dog, and $13 for each additional dog (up to three dogs per household).

Dog Park Rules

  • The dog park is exclusively for dogs registered with the Palatine Park District.
  • Dogs should always wear their registration and license tags.
  • Registration is valid for the calendar year and fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • The dog owner assumes full responsibility for any injuries, damages, or losses that occur at the dog park.
  • A handler aged 16 or older must be present at all times and is solely responsible for their dog(s).
  • Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the park, and handlers must have a leash with them.
  • Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and be at least 6 years old to enter the dog park.
  • Aggressive dogs must be immediately removed from the park, and excessive barking is strongly discouraged.
  • Dogs in heat (estrus) and dogs under 4 months of age are not allowed in the park.
  • Handlers are expected to cooperate, maintain order, and enforce dog park rules and Palatine

Park District ordinances

  • Handlers must promptly clean up after their dogs and fill any holes they dig.
  • No human food or meals for dogs are allowed, but handlers can give treats to their own dogs.
  • Handlers can bring a maximum of two dogs per visit.
  • Violations of park rules may result in temporary or permanent revocation of a dog’s registration and park privileges.
