The Palatine Park District Board of Commissioners has selected Michelle Rushing of Palatine to fill a vacant opening on the board. Rushing was appointed to succeed Commissioner Terry Ruff, who’s letter of resignation was approved at the October 13 board meeting.
Rushing has lived in the Palatine area for over 20 years. She has volunteered for a variety of District affiliates including baseball, football and soccer.
Rushing will serve the remainder of the current term and is eligible to run for election in April 2027.
Ruff has been a member of the board for 12 years. In his letter to the board, Ruff explained that changing business obligations made it necessary for him to step down. “I am grateful for the collaboration and dedication of my fellow board members and the staff of the Palatine Park District. I remain confident in the continued strength and service of the District and the positive impact it provides to the community.”
Also at the October 13 meeting, Commissioner Greg Sammons was elected as Board President and Jennifer Rogers was elected as the Board’s Vice President.
